Believed to have been built some 3 - 4,000 years ago Doll Tor is a scheduled ancient monument in the Peak district of Derbyshire. As with all things of this age its purpose is speculation though it would seem fair to assume it to have been an important ritual site. The only firm evidence for earlier use is as a burial / cremation site and several cremation urns have been recovered.
I'm a UK based freelance photographer who particularly likes old things, churches, industrial heritage, old machinery . . . and then by contrast like nature and wildlife too. I'm a dedicated tripod geek - my camera very rarely gets used 'off tripod' as many of my shots are taken in low light or require large DOF. Sometimes I shoot an image for use 'as is' - but I also like to get creative so shoot with the intention of combining multiple exposures - another great reason for being on the tripod. Just about the only thing you won't see in my portfolio are people.
