Description
The foghorn, also known as 'sonic warning' was installed at Kinnaird in 1902 and when in use gave a 7 second blast every 90 seconds and needed a hefty compressor to run. The red pipe you see here feeds two accumulator tanks that in turn went to the sounder which by a series of cogs and gears could be rotated in the direction of the fog. It was taken out of service in 1987.
