This is the Merchant Seafarer's War Memorial situated at Britannia Quay, Cardiff Bay, Wales. The artist is Brian Fell and it is in memory of the merchant seafarers from the ports of Barry Penarth and Cardiff who died in time of war. Commissioned in 1994 by the Cardiff Bay Arts Trust it comprises a melding together of a man's face and the damaged hull of a ship. DSD_8031
I'm a UK based freelance photographer who particularly likes old things, churches, industrial heritage, old machinery . . . and then by contrast like nature and wildlife too. I'm a dedicated tripod geek - my camera very rarely gets used 'off tripod' as many of my shots are taken in low light or require large DOF. Sometimes I shoot an image for use 'as is' - but I also like to get creative so shoot with the intention of combining multiple exposures - another great reason for being on the tripod. Just about the only thing you won't see in my portfolio are people.
