Artist's Description

This is Mrs Sid. Mr & Mrs Sid are the resident mute swans (Cygnus olor) at the marina where I moor my boat and they call several times a day on the off chance we may have some bread going spare. Other than tipping them upside down and taking a look (not advised) you can tell the sexes by the size of the black hump at the top of the beak where it meets the head - males have a distinct 'bulb' shape, females much less so, as shown here.

About Steev Stamford

Steev Stamford

I'm a UK based freelance photographer who particularly likes old things, churches, industrial heritage, old machinery . . . and then by contrast like nature and wildlife too. I'm a dedicated tripod geek - my camera very rarely gets used 'off tripod' as many of my shots are taken in low light or require large DOF. Sometimes I shoot an image for use 'as is' - but I also like to get creative so shoot with the intention of combining multiple exposures - another great reason for being on the tripod. Just about the only thing you won't see in my portfolio are people.
