Intentionally a little 'soft' this subtly toned and aged image shows Bratch Locks which are on the Staffordshire and Worcestershire canal and look at first glance to be staircase locks. In reality there is what surely must be one of the shortest pounds (gaps between locks) going - each is separated by literally a few feet with connection side channels to help conserve water.
I'm a UK based freelance photographer who particularly likes old things, churches, industrial heritage, old machinery . . . and then by contrast like nature and wildlife too. I'm a dedicated tripod geek - my camera very rarely gets used 'off tripod' as many of my shots are taken in low light or require large DOF. Sometimes I shoot an image for use 'as is' - but I also like to get creative so shoot with the intention of combining multiple exposures - another great reason for being on the tripod. Just about the only thing you won't see in my portfolio are people.
